Quote of the day
This is one of my many favorite quotes.
An afternoon snack
This tasty snack can be a delicious appetizer at your next guest gathering.
Easy to prepare and yet so tasty.
Fig jam and goat cheese. Pour jam on top of goat cheese and serve with crackers. My favorite crackers, cranberry & sunflower seeds.
I had this for my afternoon snack with green tea.
Yogi- green tea ( very smooth, not bitter at all) love this green tea. Yogi sends a message in every tea bag

2014 Sochi opening Olympic ceremony
Wow, what a spectacular ceremony. It was phenomenal. Russia did a superb job. I loved it, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful :-)
I was disappointed in how the CBC hosts were so critical on the small and few glitches of the ceremony. I was also disappointed in the absence of Canadian leaders cheering and supporting our strong canadian team at the Sochi ceremony opening. CBC hosts did comment on some leaders not being at the Sochi opening ceremony such as the French president however not sure why they didn't comment on the Canadian leaders or why none were seen on the podium standing strong and cheering on.
Here are pictures of the ceremony being shared on Facebook;

2014 Sochi Olympics
Our support goes out to our canadian team, we are behind you no matter what.
Dinner delight!
A light, delicious broiled halibut with broiled vegetables.
Pair this delicious meal with a nice white wine like "Casal Garcia vinho verde" or if your like me, I like my rich bodied wines like our very own, home made Cabernet Sauvignon, or a bottle of J. Lohr.
Ingredients
Halibut steaks
1-2 lemons
(Club house)Garlic powder and 2garlic cloves
(Club house) Roasted garlic & peppers seasoning purchased at Costco
Pepper and salt to taste
Preparation
* I usually marinate the fish one day prior to cooking it. I find that it absorbs the seasoning much better, but same day will do too. Season fish on both sides with garlic powder, chopped garlic cloves, salt, pepper and bell pepper seasoning. Drizzle the juice of 2 lemons over the fish and slice the lemon into pieces and place around fish. Wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Cooking
Place halibut steaks on a grill pan, one that has drainage, batter the pan with a little bit of avocado oil so the fish does not stick.Cook on broil for about 15-20 minutes. You may flip the fish to broil on both sides if desired.
Remove and serve
Vegetables
Ingredients
1 sweet potato
1 sweet purple potato
3 endives cut in half
10 small peeled carrots
Garlic powder ( club house)
Roasted garlic & peppers seasoning
Salt and pepper
Olive oil
Directions
Wash and cut into wedges or cubes the sweet potatoes with peel. Add the washed and cut in half endives and peeled carrots. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and roasted garlic & peppers. Drizzle olive oil to vegetables, toss vegetables and broil for 15 minutes on top rack than transfer them to bottom rack.
I usually put the vegetables in the oven first for about 15 minutes. Than I transfer the vegetables to bottom rack and add fish to top rack and let cook for another 15-20 minutes.
Our snow day hearty recipe - provided by, my wonderful son, Andre.
Yes, once again it is snowing in Ontario. Wow we just can't get enough. My son on the other hand loves these snow stormy days! Why? Well he gets to stay home, relax, and do absolutely nothing lol. He does however love to cook and eat, so this morning he decided to team up with me and make a hearty breakfeast. So here is, his breakfeast recipe. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did, in making it and eating it in the comfort of our cozy warm home :-)
Turkey bacon with egg on chia bread
Turkey bacon with egg on dark rye bread, served with passionfruit, blueberries and my sons own homemade "Tropicberry"
Grill or fry in small amount of olive oil the turkey bacon for 2-3 minutes on each side.
In a frying pan, drizzle a bit of olive oil, crack open an egg, season with salt, pepper and garlic powder and add a tsp of goat cheese. Fry on both sides until desired.
Toast the bread, add a very small amount of butter, place the bacon strips and egg.
Here's how we fry and season the egg right on the frying pan..
Tropicberry
Pour half cup orange juice and add about 2oz cranberry juice.
Like my son says " have fun, spend time together"

We are once again, under a snow storm watch. Please Mother Nature bring us the sun and double digits lol! Until than, I want to share with you some teas I came across from the Dr.OZ Facebook page.
I truly enjoy a nice warm cup of herbal tea just before bedtime. It really soothes and warms me up. It is my way of winding down.
A mind and body relaxant.
I truly recommend you drinking herbal teas. Get into a herbal tea bedtime regime. Not only does it sooth you, it benefits you. I have tried every brand and types of teas you can possibly imagine, and from doing so, I have acquired my own favorite teas which I will share with you on my next post.
